Times Title: "To All the Girls I've Rejected"

Ran across this NYT article about college admissions and female applicants. The story is probably not so the same for law school just yet, but of course there are similarities and parallels to be drawn. Here's a quote:

Yes, of course, these talented young women will all find fine places to attend college — Maddie has four acceptance letters in hand — but it doesn't dilute the disappointment they will feel when they receive a rejection or waitlist offer.

At this point, I just want to get some more responses. I'll admit that Hastings was a quick turn around, but my thirst to begin planning my future is driving me mad.

What were they talking about in the article? Were girls rejected more, less, with varying degrees of examination, or what? Also, was it just lawschools?

Hm. Guess what I really should do is just go out and buy the article. :)

Alex,

The article is available on nyt.com. It's free, just need to register and if you don't want to do that you can get a bugmenot.com login to get around that. The link is in my post. Let me know if you read it.

Basically what it was saying is that there are more women than men applying for college at this point and so women with fantastic credentials are still getting waitlisted/rejected for schools for which it is now "easier" to get in as a male. It wasn't for law school, just undergrad.
