Don't only blame the media for this

I applaud the NYT for this article discussing the lack of research on the media's impact on youths today, but I don't believe that it gets to the roots of this problem. Though the media does have an impact on the viewpoints of young people, I feel that there are other outlets such as parents or school programs that can disseminate truthful and well researched facts.

I spent three years of my life at NYU speaking to other students and learning about topics of sexual health. Yes, you may have seen me at your dorm talking about how to correctly put on and dispose of condoms, or talking about sex toys and orgasms. These are topics and issues that I have grown comfortable with and enjoy speaking openly about. It is important for our youth to understand and to know the truth about sex and everything that comes along with it. Abstinence based sexual education should not use scare tactics to villify the act of making love. We need to communicate and to foster an environment where young people feel comfortable speaking up with their concerns about sex so that they are able to make sound decisions.

What are your thoughts?

You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view
