Ah, the romantic in me flutters with these proposal ideas

Marry Me?

Blackberry battle heating up

It looks as if a settlement is likely, but still fun to keep up with the intellectual property battles of corporate America's favorite toy!

Shiny and New . . .

I got new glasses today. Mixed reviews, but I'm pretty sure I really like them. Picture post to follow in the coming days.

Count to ten before you hit send!

The WSJ had a funny article about embarrassing e-mails at work. See the article here. Sadly it seems that inappropriate or ballsy e-mails at work may actually get you ahead in some professions. One of those professions is law. Sometimes bad behaviour can get you ahead. I know that's probably not something I want to live by, but it's nice to know that you don't have to be completely straight and narrow to get the job done.

Old, but hilarious news

Some people do not think that Mr. Stewart is a funny man, but I've stood by the Daily Show since I saw Jon live in my freshman year of college. Everyone's heard the Cheney news, and of course it's awful, but we may as well get a laugh out of it, right? Am I right?

Also, Jon's got a big night coming up since he's hosting the Oscars and you bet your ass, he's going to do a great job.

Bienvenidos a Miami

Miami Ink has become a new favorite. I can't help but love these boys. If I ever decide to get inked, you can bet I'd take the trip to Miami to have Garver or Ami tat me up. Now I just gotta figure out what I want to get done. Do you have tattoos?

Bottled Water Woes

NYT has an interesting article about the problems associated with the distribution of bottled water. I must say that I'm guilty of purchasing it myself, but it does seem a bit silly. Anyone want to get me a Nalgene bottle?

Hearts

You know you love these little buggers. Here is the history of those cutesy candy hearts. Any suggestions for new hearts sayings?

Hello Friends and Strangers...

So, in the beginning I felt this blog was too silly and then I got the feeling that it was too serious, so I'm going to try and mix it up a bit.

First of all, here's a funny drawing by Drew from www.toothpastefordinner.com. Always entertaining snarky little items. Anyone need to find good valentine's day gifts should look no further than his merchandise section. I personally like the tetris song shirt and the thermodynamics one.Image hosting by Photobucket

Secondly, I went to the eye doctor today, therefore I will be sporting a new pair of glasses in the next few weeks and I've gotten re-fitted for contact lenses so I might be switching it up more. I also found out that I have a slight astigmatism in my left eye, but not enough to need special contacts.

The Grammy's are on right now, so I'm heading off the net to watch. I did like the Madge in a leotard/Gorillaz combination. Let me know your thoughts on the Grammy's, astigmatism, or Drew's drawings.

Valentine's day is coming up guys. Any special plans? I'll tell you all about mine later.

PS-It was one of our contract attorney's last day today, so we bought her a baby flowering cactus that looks a little like this. Image hosting by Photobucket I got the gorgeous picture from this place. Thanks!

A little comedy to start off this Sunday

Overheard in New York is really inappropriately funny sometimes, but that's just New Yorkers for you.

This NYT article talks about brain structures and imaging. My favorite quote is

And it is here, in these subterranean, subtle enfoldings of the brain, that neuroscientists say they are most likely to discover its deepest secrets.
Ohh sexy brain language, and that's what it really is, a whole language unto itself. There's even a quote from an NYU Neuroscientist; so glad I got to take Intro to Neural Science there.

Ah yes, and Happy Super Bowl Sunday. What's everyone doing? I'll recap mine if it turns out to be anything special.

Movies on TV

I didn't get out of work till after nine pm last night. Ah, long Friday's are the worst! I got home in time to catch the end of Spirited Away on the Cartoon Network. After that, I watched some of Grizzly Man. So many choice words throughout the movie and Tim Treadwell is a bit nutty. I didn't watch the whole thing , but I don't know if I would have wanted to. If you do though, it comes on again tonight on Dicovery Channel.

Grab Bag . . .

Hooray for women whose lives do not end at 30.

Also, there were a lot of great stories in the WSJ today. Starting off with this article on forced treatment for mentally ill persons. I understand the urge to protect innocent people from those that have violent pasts and mental issues, but to force drugs on any "crazy" person is so wrong I can't even begin to express my disgust. By all means we should help the people we can and we should let the law decide the consequences of those who break the law or hurt people, even in the midst of mental illness, but as I said in my interview with YAI, to force a grown adult to take a drug in order to remedy one set of symptoms, when it is quite possible that a whole new set will emerge, is wrong.

Another great one, at least to dorky me, is the "crackberry" lawsuit. Part of what's interesting is that this is a patent infringement case much like one that I'm working on right now. Also, all claim of a central patent have been rejected, which is interesting because why the heck was it allowed to be patented in the first place? Ah the law, how interesting.

Ok, I'm tired now, but I am officially a law school applicant. Still a few more applications to go, but none are due for another month. Feeling really good about it all though. Thanks to all of you who helped me read and edit it.
